We’re thrilled to invite you to this special evening of Iranian cinema. This time, we will be screening the evocative Iranian short film "Within the Sun" (Baraftoo), directed by Sepideh Jamshidi Nejad. Released in 2025, "Within the Sun" is a beautifully crafted meditation on memory, resilience, and the emotional landscapes that shape our lives. The movie will be shown in Farsi with English Subtitles, followed by a collective art-making workshop.

Synopsis

“In the suffocating heat of a remote salt mine, six elderly women work seasonally, their hands and faces weathered by years of labour, their resolve unshaken. Within the Sun is a collective portrait of resilience and quiet strength, offering a glimpse into the rhythm of these women’s daily lives, and how the harsh environment shapes their existence and soul.” - Visions du Réel, 2025
